Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has fiercely criticized the decision by the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia to formally recognize a Palestinian state, branding the move as a dangerous concession to terrorism.
In a statement on Sunday, Netanyahu said the recognition amounted to “rewarding terror with an enormous prize”, stressing that Israel would never permit the establishment of a Palestinian state west of the Jordan River.
“I have a clear message to those leaders who are recognising a Palestinian state after the horrendous October 7 massacre: you are rewarding terror with an enormous prize,” Netanyahu declared. “It’s not going to happen.”
Speaking during a visit to the United States, the prime minister revealed he had resisted “tremendous pressure, both domestic and from abroad” to support Palestinian statehood. He also noted that his government had doubled Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank which Israel refers to as Judea and Samaria and pledged continued expansion.
BSGISTNEWS reports that Netanyahu said Israel’s official response to the recognitions would be issued upon his return from Washington. He emphasized that his government remained steadfast in opposing what he described as “any attempt to force upon us a terror state in the heart of our land.”
