Nigerian singer Lojay, known for his hit song Monalisa, has spoken up to clear the air about the rumors linking him to Folashade Adeleke. Folashade is the daughter of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and she is also a cousin to famous Afrobeats star, Davido.
For a long time, many people online believed that Lojay and Folashade were in a romantic relationship because they were often seen together. However, in a recent interview, the singer explained that their relationship is not romantic at all. He said Folashade is simply his best friend and nothing more.
According to him, from the very first time he met her, he realized she was unique and different from everyone else. He went on to say that Folashade is the only woman in Davido’s 30BG crew, a music and lifestyle group of friends and associates, and she plays a very important role in the team. Lojay added that they naturally became close friends and have remained that way ever since.
When the interviewer asked if there was a chance that his friendship with Folashade could turn into a love relationship, Lojay gave a direct answer. He made it clear that he is not planning to be in a relationship anytime soon. He explained that his decision is not because he wants to “play around” or date different people, but simply because he is not emotionally ready. He said that sometimes, people need time to heal from past experiences before they can commit to someone new, and that is exactly the stage he is in right now.
His comments are coming after months of gossip and social media discussions where fans assumed that he and Folashade were secretly dating. Because Folashade is often seen around Davido’s 30BG crew and frequently appears in pictures and videos with them, many people jumped to conclusions.
But with his recent statement, Lojay has made it very clear: Folashade is only his closest friend and he is not in a romantic relationshipw ith her.
