Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was born on December 13, 1963, in Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Nigeria, to Reverend and Mrs. Nlemanya Wike.

He hails from the Ikwerre ethnic group, a prominent tribe in Rivers State.

Wike’s early life was marked by a strong Christian upbringing, with his father being a clergyman in the Anglican Communion.
