Troops of the 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN have dealt a significant blow to gunrunners in Plateau State, arresting five suspects and recovering a cache of arms, ammunition, and motorcycles.
The operation, which took place on November 17, 2024, was the result of intelligence-driven efforts to curb the proliferation of arms in the region.
Bsgistnews.com gathers that in the first operation, security agencies apprehended a notorious gunrunner at Kwanan Fulani in Jos South Local Government Area, who was transporting arms and ammunition to Farin Lamba, also in Jos South.
The suspect was found with a fabricated rifle, an AK-47 magazine, 15 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a knife, and a motorcycle.
Just two hours later, the same security team intercepted another group of four gunrunners at Kwanan Fulani.
A search of the suspects revealed an AK-47 rifle, a fabricated AK-47 rifle, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, three motorcycles, and a jackknife.
The arrested suspects and recovered items are currently in custody, undergoing interrogation.
The military has urged the public to continue providing timely intelligence to aid in the fight against crime.
