Kylian Mbappe, the Real Madrid forward, in a candid interview with Canal+ has shared a poignant story about his brother Ethan, revealing that he was willing to sacrifice his dream of joining the Spanish giants to protect his sibling’s career.
Mbappe, who finally joined Real Madrid as a free agent last summer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain, disclosed that he considered extending his stay with PSG to ensure Ethan’s future at the club.
Ethan, who also left PSG, ultimately joined Lille as a free agent.
Speaking about the experience, Kylian Mbappe said, “It’s the thing that affected me the most. He didn’t ask for anything. His Real Madrid was PSG. What Real meant to me, his childhood dream, was PSG.”
Kylian Mbappe revealed that he even offered to extend his contract with PSG to allow Ethan to stay, saying,
“At one point, I even told him, ‘If you want me to, I’ll extend [my contract] and you can stay, we’ll stay here.’ I would have given up my dream of Madrid and stayed for him.”
However, Ethan declined Mbappe’s offer, telling him, “I don’t want to stay here. What they did to you, what they did to me, it’s not normal.”
Mbappe acknowledged that if Ethan had asked him to stay, he would have sacrificed his dream of joining Real Madrid to support his brother.
