Governor Adeleke of Osun State has reassured stakeholders that his administration’s mining reforms are not aimed at targeting any individual or business, but rather at ensuring fairness and transparency in the sector.
Speaking at a stakeholders’ forum in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke emphasized the need for clearer boundaries between state and federal responsibilities to address the complexities in the mining sector.
He commended the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals for their regulatory efforts, while acknowledging the ongoing challenges in the sector.
The governor highlighted his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights of all stakeholders, including businesses, host communities, and the state government.
He emphasized that the state’s mining reforms are designed to prevent exploitation and ensure that the people of Osun benefit from their natural resources.
“Our main focus is to prevent any form of exploitation and cheating of our people,” Governor Adeleke said.
“We want our people and state to feel the impact of their God-given resources.”
The governor also reiterated Osun’s pro-business stance, stating that while the state supports business development, it will not tolerate attempts to deny the state and its people their rightful share in the mining sector.
