The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed the resignation of its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, with immediate effect. Ganduje, a former two-term Governor of Kano State, stepped down to focus on urgent personal and health-related matters.
In a statement released Friday night, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, acknowledged Ganduje’s resignation letter, which was addressed to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) through National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.
To fill the leadership vacuum, the party has directed Ali Bukar Dalori, Deputy National Chairman (North), to assume the role of Acting National Chairman, pending the next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for December.
Saluting Ganduje’s Leadership
Morka commended Ganduje’s leadership, highlighting his commitment to party unity, democratic values, and strategic political gains.
“Throughout his tenure, he dedicated himself to strengthening the party’s unity and cohesion, advancing its democratic ideals, and boosting its electoral competitiveness,” the statement read.
Ganduje’s leadership was notably reaffirmed during the party’s NEC and National Caucus meetings in February 2025, where he received renewed confidence from party stakeholders.
Party Stability Maintained
Morka assured party members and the general public that the APC remains stable, focused, and committed to delivering good governance in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Ganduje assumed the role of APC National Chairman in August 2023, following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
