The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Education, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide free digital skills training and professional certification to students and educators across tertiary institutions nationwide.
The initiative, announced via the Ministry’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, aligns with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to equip young Nigerians with 21st-century digital skills such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and more.
A Game-Changer for Nigerian Students and Educators
According to the Ministry, the digital skills program will be implemented in federal, state, and private universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, with all certifications offered 100% free, co-sponsored by AWS and the Ministry.
“The Federal Ministry of Education has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to launch a free digital skills programme for students and educators, covering cloud computing, AI, machine learning, and more,” the Ministry posted.
Already Live in 43 Institutions
As of June 2025, the training program has already launched in 43 federal universities and polytechnics, with plans underway to onboard more schools.
“Schools can now register coordinators to kickstart training. Don’t miss out, sign up now,” the Ministry urged.
Open Call for Private & State Institutions
To widen participation, the Ministry has asked Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts of all private and state tertiary institutions to nominate programme coordinators by filling a Google Form on or before Friday, July 19, 2025, by 5 PM.
The form requires the following details:
- Full name and title of institution head (Dr, Mr, Mrs, Prof.)
- Designation (Vice Chancellor, Rector, Provost)
- Institution name and type (State or Private)
- Institutional address and contact number (WhatsApp)
- Appointed coordinator’s full name, role, phone number, and email address
