Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Kolapo Sulu‑Gambari, CFR (born on 22 April 1940) in Ilorin, Kwara State, hails from the royal Dabo dynasty, directly descended from prominent 19th-century scholar Sheikh Alimi. His father, Zulkarnaini Muhammadu Gambari, served as the 9th Emir (1959–1992), and his mother, Ayisatu “Nma”, was daughter and sister to former Emirs. Raised in a palace steeped in Islamic scholarship, young Ibrahim began Qur’anic education in 1945 before attending community schools committed to foundational Muslim principles.
Education & Legal Career
Emir Sulu‑Gambari pursued Western education abroad: first at Oakham School and City Westminster College in England, then studied Law at the University of London (B.L., LL.M., circa 1967). Upon returning to Nigeria, he was called to the bar in 1968 and embarked on a distinguished juridical career.
He served as Solicitor-General of Gongola State in 1976, then as an acting High Court Judge, promoted to substantive Justice of the High Court in 1977. By 1983, he became a Justice of the Court of Appeal and later served as Presiding Justice in Lagos.

In November 1984, Prince Ibrahim was turbaned as Ciroman Ilorin.
