Chief Audu Ogbeh, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and ex-Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, has died at the age of 78.
In a statement issued by his family on Saturday, August 9, 2025, they confirmed that the respected politician passed away peacefully earlier in the day.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Chief Audu Ogbeh. He passed away on the 9th of August, 2025, at the fulfilled age of 78,” the statement read.
The family praised Ogbeh’s life of integrity, service, and dedication to both the nation and his local community, noting the positive impact he made throughout his career.
Chief Ogbeh served as Minister of Agriculture and Food Security during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, where he was widely recognized for championing an export revolution in the agricultural sector. His tenure as PDP National Chairman also left a significant mark on Nigeria’s political history.
The family stated that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course, while requesting privacy as they mourn their patriarch.
“We thank friends, colleagues, and well-wishers for their prayers and support during this time,” the family added.
Chief Audu Ogbeh will be remembered for his political leadership, agricultural reforms, and unwavering commitment to national development.
