After months on the run, the founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church, Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for allegedly masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the arrest, revealing that the cleric was apprehended on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at his church in Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, Lagos. Officers reportedly laid siege to the church from morning and waited until after the evening service before arresting him as he stepped out of the premises.
According to Babafemi, Prophet Adefolusho had twice evaded arrest and fled to Ghana to hide since June, after NDLEA intercepted two shipments of “Ghana Loud” a potent strain of cannabis inked to him. The first bust took place on June 4, 2025, when 200kg of the substance was seized at Okun Ajah beach. Another 700kg was recovered on July 6, 2025, from a delivery van allegedly connected to the suspect.
The cleric reportedly confessed to transporting the drugs through waterways from Ghana into Nigeria, admitting he went into hiding in the West African country after previous escape attempts.
In a separate operation on Thursday, August 7, NDLEA operatives raided an apartment at Kishi House, 11 Layi Ajayi Bembe Street, Parkview Estate, Ikoyi. There, they arrested one Benjamin Udo Ukoh and recovered 32 pouches of “Canadian Loud” cannabis, weighing a total of 15.63kg.
