The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has issued a 48-hour deadline to all its Diaspora Front-End Partners (FEPs) to obtain and activate their National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment licences on its newly upgraded diaspora registration platform.
The directive follows the completion of a major system upgrade aimed at enhancing the security, efficiency, and reliability of NIN registration for Nigerians living abroad. According to NIMC, the new platform offers faster processing, stronger data protection, and a smoother user experience for diaspora applicants.
In preparation for the rollout, all authorised partners have been onboarded onto the upgraded system and given intensive training to ensure effective platform management. Once compliant partners activate their licences, Nigerians abroad will be able to access uninterrupted NIN enrolment services.
“The Commission apologises for any inconvenience the upgrade process might have caused and has set up a dedicated service team to resolve all issues related to diaspora enrolment,” NIMC stated in an official release signed by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications.
NIMC has also advised diaspora applicants experiencing challenges to contact the commission for immediate assistance. While the upgraded system takes effect overseas, NIN enrolment continues at all designated centres in Nigeria. Applicants within the country can locate the nearest registration centre via the NIMC website, while Nigerians at home or abroad can update their NIN data through the online self-service portal.
Additionally, the commission is encouraging all NIN holders to download the official NIMC NINAuth App on iOS or Google Play. The app allows users to instantly verify their NIN, control access to their personal information, and enjoy secure authentication services.
With this upgrade, NIMC aims to ensure a seamless transition for Nigerians abroad while strengthening the integrity of the NIN system globally.
