Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger who became widely known after a video of her clash with a flight attendant went viral, has opened up about how the whole incident has damaged her life. She described the experience as both shameful and heartbreaking, saying it has left her feeling broken and stripped of her dignity.
According to Comfort, the problem started during her flight when she was suddenly asked to switch off her phone. She explained that after the plane landed, she stepped into the restroom for a short while, and by the time she came back, most of the passengers had already left the aircraft. Unfortunately, she found herself alone with a flight attendant, and that was when things got out of hand.
She claimed that the flight attendant stopped her from leaving the aircraft. In her words, the situation quickly turned violent, she said the staff member forcefully pulled off her wig, damaged her phone and necklace, and left her feeling completely exposed. This led to the heated altercation that someone eventually recorded and shared online.
The viral video, she said, has worsened her pain. Comfort lamented that people went as far as using the embarrassing images from the video to make WhatsApp stickers, mocking her without considering how deeply hurt she was.
Speaking about how much it has affected her personal and professional life, Comfort explained that she is now ashamed to go out in public because many people have seen her body in a disrespectful way. As a real estate agent, she said she no longer knows how to face her clients because her dignity has been taken away.
She also worried about her future, saying she does not know how she will ever get married, since the incident is on the internet and cannot be erased. In her emotional words:
“I am ashamed to go out because everyone has seen my body. They even used it as WhatsApp stickers. I work in real estate, and now I don’t know how to talk to customers when I know my body is already out there. How will I get married? Even my future children will one day see this. My name, my image, my reputation , all of it is gone. I am not a troublemaker, yet this has ruined me. I am still going to the hospital to finish my treatment because of the stress and injuries.”
Comfort ended by stressing that the incident was not only humiliating but also a painful mark on her life that she may never fully recover from.
