On Monday, popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), led a protest in Auchi, Edo State. The protest was mainly against the Dangote Group, after one of their trucks was involved in a tragic accident that left Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of BBNaija winner, Phyna, badly injured.
Ruth had just graduated when she was hit by a Dangote truck, and the accident was so severe that doctors had no choice but to amputate her leg. This sad incident drew public attention, with many Nigerians calling for justice and proper compensation for her and other accident victims linked to Dangote trucks.

During the protest, VDM, alongside students of Auchi Polytechnic, blocked Dangote trucks from moving or carrying out operations in the area. They made it clear that until the company accepts responsibility and takes action, they will not allow business to continue as usual.
Speaking to the large crowd of protesters, VDM said that Dangote must not only cover all of Ruth’s medical expenses but also compensate her fully for the pain, trauma, and life changes she has been forced to go through. He also added that Ruth’s case is not the first, as there have been several similar accidents caused by Dangote trucks across the country.
He stressed that the company has to set up a system that ensures victims of their trucks’ accidents get justice and support, instead of being abandoned to suffer on their own. The activist made it clear that this protest was not just for Ruth alone, but for every other Nigerian who has been a victim of reckless driving involving Dangote trucks.
The protest drew a lot of attention both offline and online, with many people praising VDM for standing up for justice and urging the Dangote Group to act quickly.
