Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will deliver a statewide broadcast by 6 p.m. today to thank stakeholders for their roles in restoring peace and to reassure residents of his administration’s commitment.
The governor announced this shortly after his return to Port Harcourt on Friday, where he was received by a jubilant crowd at the airport.
“We are going to address the state officially by 6 p.m., and in that broadcast, we will appreciate everyone who brought normalcy to this state,” Fubara said.
His return comes days after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month emergency rule imposed in March 2025. The federal intervention, which suspended Fubara, his deputy, and the Rivers State House of Assembly, followed months of political and legislative turmoil in the state.
The emergency measures were lifted on September 17, paving the way for the restoration of democratic governance in Rivers State.
