The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his reaction to the recent terrorist attack on residents of Wagga Mongoro in Madagali Local Government Area.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its State Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Abdullahi, the APC described Atiku’s remarks as “shameful grandstanding,” accusing him of politicising tragedy instead of showing solidarity with victims.
“Atiku once again proved that tragedy, for him, is not a moment of sober reflection but a stage for cheap politics. Instead of standing with the grieving persons, he rushed to issue a hollow statement riddled with lies and errors,” the party stated.
BSGISTNEWS gathered that the APC faulted Atiku for allegedly misrepresenting both the location and casualty figures, describing his statement as a “comedy of errors.”
The party further claimed that Atiku and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration he once served laid the foundation for insecurity in the country, arguing that his current position was hypocritical.
“Surprisingly, Atiku, whose tragic failure at leadership contributed immensely to the current insecurity, is now shamelessly using the very monster he helped create to further his wicked and diabolic plan to destabilize the country,” it said.
Recalling Atiku’s years as Vice President, the APC alleged that he failed to attract meaningful projects to Adamawa, even neglecting his hometown of Jada while focusing on personal business ventures.
“When Boko Haram overran Adamawa communities, displaced families, and shut down livelihoods, Atiku was silent. Now, when peace is gradually returning under APC leadership, he suddenly finds his voice – not to unite, but to exploit,” the statement added.
The party maintained that the Tinubu-led administration was “cleaning the Augean stable” with competent and patriotic hands actively supporting the armed forces and security agencies.
It described Atiku’s response as “callous, reckless, and a stark reminder of his disconnect from the people he claims to champion,” insisting that no true leader should exploit tragedy for political gain.
Reaffirming its solidarity with the victims of the Madagali attack, the APC offered prayers for the bereaved and injured, assuring citizens that insurgents would ultimately be defeated.
“The people of Adamawa are not deceived. They know the difference between genuine solidarity and empty posturing. They know who stood with them in their darkest hours and who is now cynically dancing on fresh graves for political gain,” the party declared.
