The Lagos State Real Estate Regulatory Authority (LASRERA), in collaboration with LuchieGreen Properties and AndyAfrique Properties, has launched the maiden edition of Realtors Connect, a platform aimed at strengthening credibility in the real estate sector and curbing fraud by unregistered practitioners.
According to a statement, the initiative is designed to sensitise realtors and agents on global best practices, while reinforcing the importance of registration with LASRERA for transparency and consumer protection.
Delivering the keynote address, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, said the state government is committed to making housing affordable through expanded mortgage schemes, rent-to-own programmes, sustainable housing systems, and the use of digital technology to simplify property transactions.
“The current real estate policies by LASRERA uphold a system where practitioners must be duly registered before operating, to protect citizens from fraud and uncertified operators,” she stated.
Convener of Realtors Connect 1.0 and CEO of LuchieGreen Properties, Oluchi Okafor, described the summit as a premium networking platform for real estate professionals to collaborate, share knowledge, and amplify the voices of players in the sector. She highlighted fraud as a major challenge and urged realtors to embrace LASRERA registration as a guarantee of credibility.
Co-convener Okochi Andrew, CEO of AndyAfrique Properties, underscored the profitability of the real estate sector, stressing that unregistered practitioners undermine its reputation. He said the conference is setting the pace for credibility and called on entrepreneurs and investors to key into the sector with confidence.
