Citizens of Nigeria and Saint Kitts and Nevis can now travel visa-free for up to 90 days, following a new bilateral agreement between both countries.
According to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the arrangement took effect on August 4. NIS spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi confirmed the development to TheCable on Sunday night.
The deal is a product of high-level engagements between President Bola Tinubu and Saint Kitts’ Prime Minister, Terrance Drew, during meetings earlier this year in Abuja and later in June, when Tinubu paid a state visit to Saint Lucia.
At a special joint session of Saint Lucia’s parliament, Tinubu had signaled Nigeria’s readiness to pursue visa waiver arrangements with members of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). The bloc includes Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Nigeria–Saint Kitts and Nevis visa waiver marks the first practical outcome of Tinubu’s wider proposal for Africa–Caribbean integration. Nigeria has also pledged to deploy technical experts to OECS countries to strengthen exchanges and deepen collaboration between the two regions.
