The leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, shared a message of hope with Nigerians on Tuesday. He said he strongly believes that Nigeria will soon rise to greatness and become a country that all its citizens will be proud of.
Pa Fasoranti gave this message while congratulating the nation on the celebration of Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary. In his speech, he reminded Nigerians that even though the country has gone through many difficulties and struggles in the past, there are strong signs that these challenges will not last forever. According to him, with faith, resilience, and good leadership, Nigeria will soon overcome its problems and move toward becoming a stronger and more successful nation.
In a statement released by Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, from Ibadan in Oyo State, Pa Fasoranti highlighted the reasons for his optimism. He explained that Nigeria has been blessed with many resources, both human and natural. He also pointed out the strength and determination of Nigerians, who never give up easily, as well as the renewed commitment of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He said the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda shows serious efforts to put the country on the path of development.
Pa Fasoranti noted that the benefits of some government policies are already beginning to show. He assured Nigerians that by the end of this year, the results of these policies will become even clearer. For example, he expressed hope that the economy will perform much better in the coming year, based on the positive signs that are already visible.
He also spoke about security, which is one of the major concerns in Nigeria. According to him, great improvements are expected, especially with the introduction of state police, a project the government seems to be treating with utmost seriousness.
Moving forward, Pa Fasoranti urged state governments to allow local governments to function more freely. He explained that if local councils are given more power and independence, the people at the grassroots level will feel the presence and benefits of government more directly in their daily lives.
The Afenifere leader further expressed confidence in the promises made by President Tinubu’s administration to promote inclusive growth, strengthen democracy, and ensure that no Nigerian is left behind in the journey of national development.
However, he also emphasized that more must be done to tackle insecurity. He mentioned the need to intensify efforts against banditry and other criminal activities affecting different parts of the country, including the South-West.
Pa Fasoranti encouraged Nigerians to join hands together, reminding them of the theme for this year’s independence celebration: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation. He stressed that everyone must play a role, no matter how small, in building the Nigeria of our dreams.
Finally, he called for urgent restructuring of the country, which he believes is one of the best and most practical ways to solve many of Nigeria’s pressing problems. According to him, this will help bring to life the vision of the nation’s founding fathers and set Nigeria firmly on the path of greatness.
