The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has cautioned the public against engaging with fraudulent social media accounts impersonating its Chief Executive, Engineer Gbenga Komolafe.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Commission clarified that Komolafe has no official social media presence on X (Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, warning Nigerians to avoid any interaction with such pages to prevent being scammed.
“For the sake of clarity, the Commission Chief Executive has no social media accounts. Members of the public are therefore advised against interacting with such pages in order to avoid being defrauded,” the statement read.
The NUPRC urged the public to rely solely on its verified official channels and website (www.nuprc.gov.ng) for accurate information on its activities and operations.
The Commission further assured that efforts are underway to track and prosecute those behind the impersonation, advising Nigerians to remain alert and cautious.
