A Nigerian military lover boy has gone viral after revealing that OPay refunded his money when a lady he sent transport fare to blocked him immediately after receiving the funds.
The man, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @Olamilekan, shared the story in a post celebrating the refund, though he did not disclose the exact amount.
In his words:
“Almighty Allah will bless this OPay for me. Werey collect transport money, block me. E sweet my belle 😂😂😂.”
The lady’s identity remains unknown, but the post quickly gained traction online, with many users reacting humorously and others commending OPay for its customer protection policy.
The incident comes amid growing discussions about the “transport fare scam” trend, where individuals collect money for visits they never intend to make.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State Police Command previously warned that collecting transport fare without fulfilling an agreed meeting constitutes a criminal offense, classified as “obtaining money under false pretenses.”
In a related case, a lady identified as Jennifer was recently ordered by a court to pay ₦450,000 in damages to a man named Emmanuel after collecting ₦50,000 as transport fare and failing to show up.
The court ruled that Jennifer’s act amounted to deception and financial exploitation, despite her claim that the money was insufficient for her journey from Asaba to Abuja.
The “military lover boy” story has since fueled renewed debate on social media about digital transaction ethics, dating accountability, and consumer protection in fintech platforms.
