Barcelona have reportedly listed Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen among a five-man shortlist of elite strikers being considered as long-term replacements for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract runs out at the end of the season.
The 37-year-old Polish striker is expected to depart the Camp Nou as a free agent next summer, with the club unlikely to extend his deal.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s shortlist includes:
- Julian Alvarez (Atletico Madrid)
- Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)
- Victor Osimhen (Galatasaray)
- Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund)
- Etta Eyong (Levante) as a low-cost alternative
Lewandowski’s agent, Pini Zahavi, recently stated that the striker’s future remains open:
“Lewandowski’s contract expires in the summer of 2026, and no decision has been made. We’ll have to wait and see what happens in the coming days.”
The report also notes that Barcelona’s financial team is confident the club can finance a marquee striker signing, with Alvarez emerging as the leading candidate.
To make the transfer possible, Barcelona must return to La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule, a target expected to be met once Lewandowski leaves, freeing up €40 million (£35m) in wages and amortisation.
The club is close to achieving financial balance, pending the final payment for VIP seat instalments due in December. Out of the €100 million settlement for 2024/25, €70 million has already been received, with the remaining €30 million expected soon.
Barcelona also believe that increased revenue from the fully reopened Camp Nou will strengthen their ability to fund a major signing.
With Erling Haaland ruled out due to financial constraints, Alvarez is now seen as the top choice. Osimhen and Kane also remain in contention, with Osimhen impressing in Turkey since joining Galatasaray on loan.
Meanwhile, despite Barcelona’s reluctance to offer a renewal, star teenager Lamine Yamal reportedly wants Lewandowski to stay.
The 17-year-old is said to view Lewandowski as a mentor, with a strong bond developing between them on and off the pitch. Yamal is reportedly keen to see the veteran remain at the club beyond 2027, when his contract expires.
