Paul Onuachu, Nigeria international has revealed that he is reevaluating his future at Southampton, following a tumultuous season that saw him spend time on loan at Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor.
Paul Onuachu, 30, had been eager to make his move to Trabzonspor permanent, but the club was unable to meet Southampton’s valuation.
As a result, the striker found himself in limbo, unsure of his future at the Premier League club.
However, Paul Onuachu’s fortunes have changed in recent weeks, particularly after impressing on his first start of the season against Liverpool last month.
New Southampton manager Ivan Juric has also expressed his willingness to give Onuachu an opportunity to establish himself as a regular starter.
Reflecting on his rollercoaster season, Onuachu told the Daily Echo, “It’s been an up-and-down season. Initially, we were discussing a transfer and my potential departure from the team. However, it didn’t materialize, and I continued to work hard and believe in myself.”
Onuachu also credited former Southampton manager Russell Martin for recognizing his potential and providing him with opportunities to showcase his skills.
“He started to believe in me, gave me some chances, and I think I executed them very well. Now, we’re here, and I’m reevaluating my future at the club,” Onuachu said.
