Police officers of the Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended a 25-year-old suspected kidn@pper, Abubakar Musa, from Rijiyar Lemo Quarters, Kano.
Musa was arrested by the officers for kidn@pping a two-year-old child, Al’amin Ahmad Garba, and demanding a ransom of N50 million for the victim’s release.
According to SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the command’s Public Relations Officer, the arrest was made on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.
The victim was rescued from a house in Unguwar Liman, Dorayi Quarters, Kano, where he had been hidden for three days.
After the rescue, the child was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where he received medical attention and was later discharged.
The officers confirm he has since been reunited with his family.
The suspect, Abubakar Musa, was charged to Magistrate Court Number 25, Nomansland, Kano, on January 3, 2025, and is currently remanded.
The Kano State Police Command has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring public safety and combating crime in the state.
