Mahdi Shehu has been granted a ₦3 million bail by a Kaduna State High Court after his arrest for allegedly spreading a misleading viral video.
The court set specific conditions for Mahdi Shehu’s release, including providing two prominent clerics as sureties.
Justice Murtala J. Zubair emphasized that the decision to grant bail was guided by legal principles and the evidence presented.
Shehu is presumed innocent until proven otherwise, the judge noted.
As part of the bail conditions, Mahdi Shehu must surrender his international passport, obtain court approval before traveling, and report monthly to security authorities.
Failure to comply with these conditions would result in Mahdi Shehu’s continued detention, according to security expert Zagazola Makama.

Shehu’s legal team expressed confidence in his ability to meet the bail conditions and plans to mount ah strong defense against the allegations.
