Thandeka Ngema popularly known by her stage name MaWhoo was born on 16 December 1994 in Eshowe, KwaZulu‑Natal, MaWhoo grew up in a culture-rich environment that shaped her artistic passions.
By age eleven, she was writing and recording her own songs; so driven that she submitted one to a local radio station, only to be told she was too young.
