A 25-year-old man, Bukola Olabode has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defrauding Point of Sale operators as well as residents of Ihunbo in the Ipokia Local Government Area while at the same impersonating to be a police officer.
The Ogun State Police Command stated that the suspect’s mode of operation included putting on a police camouflage shirt paired with jeans to carry out several fraudulent transactions using POS machines.
It was also reported that on Thursday, the 21st of November, 2024, the residents of Ihunbo had apprehended the suspect on Tuesday, the 19th of November, 2024 and thereafter handed him over to officers of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC) who then transferred him to the Police at the Idiroko Division.
Bsgistnews.com gathers that the suspect was said to have met his fate when he tried the similar fraudulent act at the POS stand of an operator named Mary Midoyin and when his fraudulent act was discovered by the POS operator, the suspect immediately fled the scene.
Unfortunately for the suspect, the residents who were alerted by the uproar of the operator pursued him which eventually led to his capture.
