23-year-old Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has announced that she intends to back out from beauty pageants.
Chidinma had emerged as the first runner-up in the global pageant held at Arena CDMX in Mexico City on November 16, 2024, marking a new milestone for Nigeria on the international stage.
Miss Chidimma also made history of becoming the first runner-up from time immemorial from Nigeria and West Africa as a whole.
She was however crowned Miss Universe Africa and Oceania during the event.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Pidgin obtained by Bsgistnews.com, Chidimma had expressed pride in her accomplishment, which she said surpassed her expectations.
“I was so emotional when I was called into the top five. I had prepared myself mentally just to make it into the top 30. Surpassing my own expectations has made me very proud of myself,” she said in Pidgin.
Irrespective of her success in the recent event, Chidimma Adetshina has disclosed her plans of backing out from pageants for the sole purpose of focusing on her education as well as exploring new opportunities in acting and modeling.
Chidimma’s journey however to the Miss Universe stage was not free from hurdles as earlier this year, she faced public probe and controversy surrounding her South African citizenship.
This thereafter led to her subsequent withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant.
On the Issue of Chidimma Adetshina’s Citizenship Saga;
When asked during the BBC Pidgin interview about the citizenship saga, Chidimma stated that she was yet to fully understand the whole situation and would definitely address it once she’s able to consult her Lawyer.
