Governor Namadi of Jigawa State has pledged support to 10-year-old Khadija Muhammed, who was assaulted five months ago in Galamawa community, Dutse.
The governor’s commitment comes after he learned about Khadija’s condition, which left him deeply shocked and concerned.
According to Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa, Governor Namadi has ordered immediate action to support Khadija and her family.
The Governor Namadi support includes providing the best medical care and rehabilitation available, as well as re-enrolling Khadija in school with free education once she recovers.
The state’s Attorney General has confirmed that the perpetrator of the assault has been arrested and is currently in prison.
To aid Khadija’s psychological recovery, the Ministry of Women Affairs courtesy of Governor Namadi will secure alternative accommodation for her family.
The Jigawa State Government has reiterated its commitment to eradicating gender-based violence, emphasizing support for victims of sexual assault.
The government urges victims and their families to report cases to the proper authorities rather than turning to social media.
Perpetrators of gender violence are warned that strict measures are in place to punish such offenses.
Khadija is currently receiving medical care and rehabilitation at a hospital in Kano.
