Gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a devastating attack on Kakin Dawa village in Zamfara State, abducting over 50 women and girls.
The village, located in the Maradun Local Government Area, was stormed by the gunmen at 1:30 am on Sunday, with the assailants moving from house to house, leaving a trail of terror in their wake.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen were heavily armed, and their sophisticated weapons struck fear into the hearts of the villagers.
“Everyone started running because the armed bandits have been targeting our village,” a community member recounted.
“Later, we discovered that more than 50 of our women were abducted.”
The kidnapped victims include young girls and married women, leaving their families and loved ones in a state of distress.
The community member appealed to the federal and Zamfara State governments to deploy more military and security personnel to the area to combat the terrorists.
Efforts to obtain a reaction from the State police command spokesman, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The attack has sparked widespread concern, with many Nigerians calling for increased security measures to protect vulnerable communities.
