Police Officers from the Zone 16 Command in a significant crackdown on fraudulent activities has arrested three suspects in Rivers State for allegedly engaging in ill*cit drugs and financial crimes.
The suspects, identified as Billion Ndubuisi, Charles Amachree, and Martins Chinemike, were apprehended by the Zonal Financial and Cyber Crime unit following credible intelligence.
According to SP Gunn Emonena, the zone’s spokesman, the suspects confessed to impersonating Ryam Bill, a US-based luminary, and defrauding two victims, St. Andrea and Charlen Zielinsky, of $71,500.
A search of their premises yielded wraps of ill*cit hard drugs suspected to be hemp, two vehicles, two laptops, and 10 mobile phones.
In a shocking twist, the suspects attempted to bribe the police officers with $17,000 through an intermediary.
However, the officers rejected the bribe, demonstrating their commitment to upholding the law.
The money has been registered and will be presented as evidence in court.
The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Zone 16, Adebola Hamzat, reaffirmed his dedication to protecting the lives and property of citizens within his jurisdiction.
He emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
