Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully repelled an attack by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters on their base in Darak, Cameroon.
The attack, which occurred around 1 am on Wednesday, was met with a swift counteroffensive by the MNJTF troops.
According to reports, the counteroffensive resulted in the k*lling of at least six ISWAP fighters, with four others injured.
The MNJTF also recorded five injuries during the operation.
Intelligence sources have revealed that ISWAP has undergone a leadership change, with Abu Usman being named the new leader of Marte, replacing Abu Sale.
Further intelligence suggests that ISWAP is planning an attack on Wulgo in the Marte Local Government Area, Borno State, or Malam Fatori.
In a bid to bolster their operational capacity, ISWAP has reportedly acquired three additional gun trucks, increasing their fleet to 10.
