Abdullahi Ganduje, The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman has fired back at Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, accusing him of libel and inciting his followers to issue death threats against APC spokesman Felix Morka.
APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje claims that Obi falsely accused Morka of threatening his life and family in a recent interview, which has led to Obi’s online supporters issuing death threats against Morka and his family.
Ganduje emphasizes that Obi, as a public figure, has a responsibility to provide accurate and truthful information, and that spreading falsehood undermines public trust.
The controversy started when Obi criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration on New Year’s Day, and Morka responded by saying, “Peter Obi has crossed the line so many times, and he has what’s coming to him. Whatever he gets, he should manage it.”
Obi alleged that Morka’s statement was a threat to his life, but Morka countered that he was quoted out of context and never threatened Obi’s life.
Abdullahi Ganduje has called on Obi to refrain from misinformation and to accept criticism as part of the democratic process.
He also emphasized the importance of free speech, which is protected by Nigeria’s Constitution, and warned that the APC would continue to counter baseless allegations with facts concerning the Tinubu-led government.
