Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State has faced severe criticism from Islamic scholar Idris Abdulaziz who has criticized Governor Bala Mohammed for his vocal opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform proposals.
Abdulaziz accused Governor Bala Mohammed of financial irresponsibility, citing the alleged allocation of N400 million for six computers, which translates to N66 million per computer.
The cleric questioned Bala Mohammed’s integrity and moral right to criticize the tax reform bills, suggesting that his stance is driven by politics rather than patriotism.
Abdulaziz believes that Mohammed is exploiting the issue to score political points and further his own ambitions, including a potential presidential bid.
Abdulaziz’s criticism comes amid ongoing debates about the tax reform proposals, which have been met with opposition from Governor Mohammed and 18 other Northern governors.
The National Economic Council has also expressed reservations about the proposals, which have sparked intense debate nationwide.
The cleric advised the public not to take Mohammed’s comments seriously, dismissing his stance as purely political.
