On Wednesday, An Ikeja Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos State, cleared Comfort Emmanson of all charges. She had been accused of misbehaving and assaulting someone on an Ibom Air flight.
Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami dropped the case after the police withdrew the five charges against her.
Earlier, the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo (SAN), said the decision came after discussions with people in the aviation sector, reviewing the incident, listening to appeals from concerned citizens, and noting the remorse shown by those involved.
Keyamo also said Ibom Air agreed to drop its complaint against Emmanson, who was arrested over the August 10 incident.
Emmanson had first appeared in court on Monday and was granted bail of ₦500,000 with two Sureties. Since she couldn’t meet the bail conditions, she was kept at Kirikiri Prison.
When the case came up again, the prosecutor, Oluwabunmi Adeitan, told the court that there were new developments and asked for the case to be withdrawn. The court accepted the request and closed the case.
