ECOWAS (The Economic Community of West African States) Commission has launched a humanitarian intervention program to support approximately 1,000 individuals affected by the 2024 flood disaster in Bauchi State.
This initiative is a collaborative effort between The Economic Community of West African States and the Federal Government of Nigeria, demonstrating the strength of regional solidarity in addressing humanitarian challenges.
At the concluding ceremony of the ECOWAS Emergency Response Project, held at the Bauchi Government House, Tanko Sununu, the State Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, highlighted the importance of targeting the most severely affected communities in the state.
The initiative focuses on six local government areas in Bauchi, with the list of vulnerable populations compiled by the Bauchi State Government and validated by the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
The successful collaboration between ECOWAS and the Nigerian Red Cross Society has been instrumental in delivering aid to the affected communities.
