Enugu Government is gearing up to achieve an ambitious N509 billion Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target for 2025.
The Enugu State Internal Revenue Service (ESIRS) has reaffirmed its commitment to meeting this goal, which is expected to drive transformative initiatives and bring development and prosperity to the state’s residents.
ESIRS Executive Chairman Emmanuel Nnamani expressed confidence in the agency’s ability to exceed expectations, citing its successful track record in 2024.
To achieve the Enugu Government’s N509 billion target, ESIRS will focus on enhancing the collection of land use charges, stamp duties, taxes on rental income, and recovering outstanding local government taxes.
The Enugu Government is dedicated to rapid and efficient project execution, ensuring that the N509 billion target is not just a figure, but a catalyst for growth and development.
The government acknowledges the importance of collaboration between citizens and the government to achieve greater milestones in 2025.
To ensure compliance, ESIRS will conduct tax audits, scrutinizing companies that have defaulted on their tax payments.
The organization is committed to ensuring that every eligible entity contributes its fair share towards the development of Enugu State.
This ambitious target is part of Enugu State’s efforts to boost its IGR, which has been on the rise in recent years.
The state has implemented various initiatives, including the recruitment of over 200 staff to eliminate loopholes in tax payment and enhance revenue collection.
Additionally, ESIRS has introduced a single yearly unified tax payment system to solve the issue of multiple taxation.
