The Nigerian Police are investigating Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as KWAM 1, for allegedly behaving badly and stopping an aircraft from operating safely at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Police spokesperson, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said on Tuesday that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) sent a formal complaint to the police about the incident, which happened on August 5, 2025, and broke aviation safety rules.
Following the complaint, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the Airport Police Commissioner to carry out a full investigation to find out exactly what happened and ensure justice is done.
According to reports, the trouble started when KWAM 1 tried to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos with a flask that staff suspected contained alcohol, which is banned on domestic flights in Nigeria. When asked to hand it over, he refused and allegedly blocked the plane from moving, causing a scene.
Because of this, the NCAA suspended the pilot, Oluranti Ogoyi, and the co-pilot, Ivan Iloba. KWAM 1 was also banned from flying with any Nigerian airline for six months while investigations continue.
KWAM 1 later apologized, saying he never meant to break any rules or cause trouble. However, calls for his prosecution grew louder after another passenger, Comfort Emmanson, was jailed for allegedly attacking flight crew on a different flight.
