Nigeria Police of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a crackdown on vehicles with tinted glasses, citing their contribution to the rising security crisis in the country.
According to Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the police will impound all vehicles with tinted glasses, emphasizing that nobody has the right to tint their vehicle glasses.
Disu explained that tinted glasses have made it difficult for people to identify individuals in distress, particularly kidnap victims.
He also noted that criminals often cover their number plates or refuse to display them, making it challenging for law enforcement to track them down.
The Nigeria police commissioner warned residents of the FCT that the police will strictly enforce laws on tinted glasses, and anyone found violating this law will face the consequences.
This move is part of the Nigeria police’s efforts to tackle the growing menace of “one chance” robberies and other crimes in the FCT.
In recent months, the FCT Police Command has increased patrols, stop-and-search operations, and surveillance to combat crime.
The command has also encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities and provide information on suspected perpetrators.
By enforcing the ban on tinted glasses, the police aim to improve security and make it easier to identify and track down criminals.
