NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) has made a significant update to its redeployment policy for married female corps members.
As of November 25, 2024, these individuals will no longer be required to change their maiden names to their spouse’s name in order to qualify for redeployment.
This change was announced in a circular signed by Abubakar Mohammed, Director of Corps Mobilisation, and addressed to NYSC directors, acting directors, and state and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) coordinators.
NYSC Circular;
The circular, titled “Review of criteria for concessional deployment/relocation for married female corps members,” outlines the revised criteria for granting concessional deployment or relocation to married female corps members.
According to the circular, state coordinators should inform married female corps members that changing their maiden name to their spouse’s name is no longer a requirement for redeployment.
However, all other requirements for concessional redeployment remain unchanged.
This update marks a significant shift in the National Youth Service Corps’ policy, providing greater flexibility and convenience for married female corps members.
