Peter Obi’s supporters (the Obidient Movement) have condemned a statement made by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which they perceive as a threat to the life of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election.
Morka’s comments on Arise TV on January 5, 2025, implied that Obi had “crossed the line” and would face consequences.
The Obidient Movement views this as a reckless attack on Obi and a sign of Nigeria’s descent into authoritarianism under President Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement, the Obidient Movement demanded clarification on what specific actions or statements by Obi justified Morka’s threat.
They also accused the Tinubu administration of prioritizing repression over dialogue and intimidation over engagement.
The movement warned that if any harm comes to Peter Obi or his associates, the Nigerian government and its agents will be held directly responsible.
They urged security services to investigate Morka’s statement and called on Nigerians and the international community to hold those in power accountable.
This development comes after Obi alleged that his life was under threat due to his criticism of President Tinubu’s administration.
The Obidient Movement’s response highlights the escalating tensions between the ruling party and opposition voices in Nigeria.
