Simon Ekpa extradition can well be said to be underway as Nigeria’s government have taken a significant step towards bringing the Biafra agitator to justice, by submitting the necessary requirements to the Finnish government for his extradition.
This development was confirmed by Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, during an interview on Channels Television.
Simon Ekpa, who was arrested in November 2024 by Finnish authorities along with four others, is suspected of involvement in terr*r-related activities, including incitement to violence and financing terrorism.
The Lahti District Court in Finland ordered his detention based on evidence of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent in Nigeria.
General Musa expressed confidence that the extradition process will move forward, stating that the Federal Government has provided most of the required documentation to the Finnish Government.
He also welcomed Simon Ekpa’s arrest, saying “Legal action will be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say too much, but I’m glad he’s been arrested”.
Simon Ekpa is accused of using social media to promote separatist propaganda and violently advocate for the secession of southeastern Nigeria.
His extradition to Nigeria would mark a significant milestone in the country’s efforts to address the separatist movement and promote national unity.
