In a series of intensified military offensives across various parts of Nigeria, troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized several terrorists, rescued kidnapped victims, and thwarted multiple criminal activities under ongoing operations.
Under Operation Hadin Kai, troops from the 120 Task Force Battalion apprehended a suspected Nigerien terrorist attempting to breach a security perimeter in Katarko, Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, on Monday.
According to a credible military source who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the suspect’s inability to communicate in any Nigerian language prompted suspicions of transnational terrorist affiliations, leading to further investigations.
In Borno State, the source revealed that a woman and her child, relatives of insurgents voluntarily surrendered to troops of the 202 Battalion stationed in Bama, after fleeing the Churchur axis. The military described the development as an indication of the sustained pressure being mounted on insurgent enclaves in the region.
Meanwhile, troops under the 8 Division Garrison in Sokoto State engaged armed terrorists in a fierce shootout in Tsamaye and Mai Lalle, located in Sabon Birni Local Government Area. Two terrorists were killed, and the troops recovered three AK-47 rifles and a motorcycle at the scene.
In Kebbi State, troops of the 1 Battalion Rear successfully intercepted an attempted cattle rustling operation in Sauna Village, Argungu Local Government Area. The rustlers fled the scene, abandoning 251 cows, which were subsequently returned to their rightful owners.
Troops of the 323 Artillery Regiment operating in Igbara-Oke, Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, arrested two suspected gunrunners attempting to acquire weapons. According to the source, the suspects were allegedly working under instructions from an inmate at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility in Lagos, who is believed to be orchestrating illegal arms deals to support criminal operations in Zamfara State.
In a related anti-crime effort, troops in Delta State discovered a tricycle loaded with 200 litres of suspected illegally refined diesel along the Jeddo–Omadino axis in Warri South Local Government Area.
In a clearance operation targeting separatist elements, troops raided a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area, arresting seven suspects. Recovered materials included a motorcycle, four mobile phones, and various logistics supplies.
The military source reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to internal security and public safety, promising to maintain the current high operational tempo across all theatres.
“These operations reflect the Army’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism, insurgency, and all forms of criminality threatening national peace,” the source emphasized.
