BsgistNews is a media platform under BismileTv Media, dedicated to exploring the evolution of technology, business, innovation, entertainment, and culture across Africa. From emerging startups and fundraising rounds to market expansions, mergers, and closures, we document and analyze the key players, personalities, policies, and economic movements shaping Africa’s digital and entertainment landscape. Our reporting also focuses on how technology, entertainment, and financial shifts affect the everyday lives of Africans on the continent and in the diaspora.
Our editorial mission is guided by the values of truthfulness, accuracy, transparency, and ethical integrity.
We are committed to fair and objective reporting that supports and reflects the interests of the industry and the public. Our work is designed to promote understanding and progress across all sectors we cover.
Maintaining credibility, upholding editorial independence, and earning the trust of our readers are foundational to our operations.
The following editorial guidelines apply to all individuals involved in content creation whether writers, editors, visual designers, freelancers, or full-time staff. These principles reflect our ambition to grow as a pan-African news organization while adhering to global journalistic standards.

Accuracy and Accountability
Corrections Policy
We hold our reporters to the highest standard of accuracy. Every story must be factually correct, legally sourced, and ethically gathered. Reporters must cite sources properly and avoid plagiarism of any kind.
It is the responsibility of our journalists to verify facts, speak with relevant and diverse sources, and produce content that is fair and well-balanced.
Inaccuracies are addressed swiftly. If any factual error slips into a published story, we correct it promptly and transparently. Readers who spot errors can notify us at: info@bsgistnews.com
Content Removal (Take-downs)
BsgistNews maintains a strict policy against removing published content unless there are exceptional legal or ethical reasons.
We invest in comprehensive editorial processes; rigorous research, thorough verification, and balanced editing before publishing any story. Corrections to factual inaccuracies will be made openly, but stories will not be deleted from our archive.
Use of Sources and Anonymity
Attribution and Transparency
We value transparency and aim to attribute all information to named sources. Anonymity is granted only when a source may face danger or retaliation.
In such cases, reporters must assess the source’s motivations, clarify off-the-record or background terms, and seek corroboration from public or on-the-record information.
Even when anonymity is granted, sufficient context is provided so readers can evaluate the source’s credibility. Stories based solely on anonymous sources are rare and must be approved in line with editorial standards.
Balanced and Fair Reporting
We strive for coverage that presents all sides of a story, especially in complex or controversial issues. Reporters must avoid selective quoting and ensure that content is well contextualized.
All individuals or institutions mentioned critically in a report must be given at least 24 hours to respond prior to publication. The terms of engagement whether on-the-record, off-the-record, or on background; must be clearly defined and respected.
Professional Relationships with Sources
To deliver meaningful and informed journalism, our reporters often build long-term professional relationships with stakeholders. However, these relationships must never compromise editorial objectivity.
Reporters are prohibited from forming connections that could result in real or perceived conflicts of interest.
Gifts and Personal Benefits
Our editorial staff must not accept gifts or favours from individuals or entities we report on in exchange for favourable coverage. If accepted at all, gifts must be of trivial value and must not pose a conflict of interest.
When in doubt, staff are required to seek approval from the Editor-in-Chief before accepting anything of value.
Editorial Duty to the News
Every reporter at BsgistNews has a duty to proactively pursue and report stories that are vital to their beats. We are committed to delivering accurate and comprehensive journalism focused on Africa’s innovation ecosystem.
Reporters must:
- Diligently pursue leads and tips,
- Be transparent about how they gather information,
- Allow subjects reasonable time to respond to inquiries (at least 24 hours),
- Verify all facts, quotes, and data before publishing.
Conflicts of Interest and Editorial Independence
Maintaining Independence
BsgistNews, like many media entities, derives revenue from advertising, sponsorships, and grants; sometimes from the very industries we cover.
Despite this, our editorial team operates independently. Neither our sponsors nor advertisers influence our story selection, tone, or coverage. Business and editorial divisions operate separately, and content partnerships are clearly labeled as paid.
External Work and Freelancing
Editorial team members are prohibited from pitching or publishing stories elsewhere that align with BsgistNews’s editorial focus, unless approved in advance by the Editor-in-Chief or Editorial Director.
Freelancers must not resell stories or visuals commissioned by BsgistNews to other platforms especially direct competitors.
Speaking on Behalf of BsgistNews
We encourage staff to participate in public events, panels, or interviews. However, such appearances should be communicated in advance to the line manager, and staff must represent the publication truthfully and professionally.
