In a bold move to redefine its place in Nigeria’s telecom industry, 9mobile has officially rebranded as T2, introducing a dynamic new identity and a forward-looking strategy designed to position the company as a key driver of the nation’s digital economy.
Speaking at the brand relaunch event in Lagos on Friday, Chief Executive Officer Obafemi Banigbe described the transformation as a defining moment in the company’s journey.
“This is not just a brand unveiling; it is the beginning of a whole new chapter in our history. We are no longer who we were; we are becoming something greater, more ambitious, and more in tune with the future,” Banigbe said.
According to him, T2’s vision is to evolve into a customer-obsessed, technology-powered, and digitally agile brand, a platform for possibilities that connects innovators, startups, creatives, remote workers, and everyday Nigerians with tools to do more.
Banigbe explained that the new identity embodies the dynamism and resilience of Nigeria’s youthful population.
“Across Nigeria, we see the hunger for speed, access, relevance, and creativity. That is why we are embracing a digital-first approach: leaner, faster, smarter, to serve our customers better,” he noted.
The relaunch marks T2’s commitment to becoming a fully digital operator; cloud-native, API-ready, and data-driven. This shift, Banigbe said, will allow the company to introduce new products faster, deliver personalised experiences through AI and analytics, and empower customers with real-time self-service tools.
Addressing the company’s recent struggles, Banigbe acknowledged past setbacks but framed them as proof of resilience.
“We have endured, we have struggled, but like Nigeria, we always bounce back stronger and sharper. Our scars are not signs of defeat; they are reminders of our resilience,” he said.
He stressed that the rebrand is about substance, not just appearance:
“Customer experience will no longer be a department, it becomes the business. We are playing to win.”
Banigbe expressed gratitude to T2’s customers, partners, regulators, shareholders, and employees for their continued support.
“To every Nigerian dreaming of something better, this rebrand is for you. Let it remind you that you too can reimagine, rebuild, and relaunch,” he said.
With T2’s launch, the company aims to blend local relevance with cutting-edge innovation, setting a bold new course in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
