The People’s Republic of China has commended Nigerian security agencies for the successful rescue of four of its nationals kidnapped in Kwara State.
In a statement on Sunday, China’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, praised the coordinated efforts of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Police, describing the operation as “swift and intelligence-driven.”
Represented by Consul Wang Jun, the ambassador delivered the commendation during a formal handover ceremony held at the DSS medical facility in Abuja, where the rescued victims were receiving care.
“The DSS-led joint operation ensured the safe and timely rescue of the four Chinese miners; Dansu Zhou, Zhou Hai, Zhou Jia Jun, and Fan Xiu Guo who were abducted by armed men while en route to a mining site in Saminaka village, Yagba West LGA, Kogi State,” the statement said.
The Consul also expressed appreciation for the professional medical attention provided to the rescued individuals, noting that the DSS facility offered “exceptional care that contributed greatly to their recovery.”
He further lauded the agency’s operational capacity and medical readiness, stating that the embassy was “pleasantly surprised by the level of expertise and resources available at the DSS medical facility.”
The statement added that the rescue underscores the ongoing successes of the DSS and other security agencies in dismantling criminal networks, intercepting arms, and curbing insecurity nationwide.
It referenced a recent DSS operation in Asaba, Delta State, where operatives intercepted seven General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs), alongside other weapons and ammunition; a move widely hailed as proof of the Service’s commitment to restoring peace and national stability.
