The Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to life imprisonment.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice James Omotosho ruled that Kanu would serve life terms on counts one, two, four, five, and six, choosing life imprisonment over the death sentence prescribed under the law.
The court further imposed a 20-year prison term on count three and an additional five-year sentence on count seven; both without the option of a fine.
Justice Omotosho issued the sentences after finding Kanu guilty on all seven charges related to terrorism.
