The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has reportedly resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Ganduje, who previously served as the Governor of Kano State, stepped down citing health reasons, stating that he needs to prioritize his well-being.
Earlier this year, President Tinubu appointed Ganduje as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). This appointment was confirmed via FAAN’s official channels in January 2025.
The news of his resignation was first made public in an X post (formerly Twitter) by Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari. Ahmad wrote:
“The National Chairman of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has resigned from his position, effective immediately, as confirmed by multiple sources.”
Ganduje’s tenure as APC chairman has not been without controversy, marked by internal party tensions and public criticism.
As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership has yet to release an official statement confirming or naming an interim replacement.
