PDP (The Peoples Democratic Party) has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s New Year message, stating that it lacks a clear plan to address the pressing issues of unemployment and hunger affecting Nigerians.
According to PDP spokesperson Debo Ologunagba, the president’s speech was “self-satisfying” and offered no hope for the future.
Ologunagba emphasized that the Tinubu administration is disconnected from the economic hardship faced by Nigerians, failing to provide a specific direction for the nation or solutions to the problems caused by the APC’s misrule.
The speech was also criticized for not addressing critical sectors such as electricity, oil and gas, road infrastructure, and food production.
Furthermore, the PDP spokesperson pointed out that the message lacked a precise plan to address unemployment through strategic investment in small and medium-scale enterprises.
He argued that if the APC administration truly had the interest of Nigerians at heart, the New Year address would have made definite pronouncements on the price of fuel, which should not exceed N350 per liter.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s criticism was echoed by the Trade Union Congress (TUC), whose president, Festus Osifo, stated that the optimism conveyed in President Tinubu’s speech does not align with the current economic condition of the nation.
Ultimately, the Peoples Democratic Party has challenged President Tinubu to listen to Nigerians and focus on the welfare and security of the people, rather than making empty promises.
With Nigerians having lost faith in the administration, the Peoples Democratic Party spokesperson emphasized that the country is eagerly waiting for the next round of elections to mark the end of the “nightmare” represented by the APC.
