Eldee the Don has shared a fascinating insight into the early days of Grammy-winning artist Wizkid’s career.
In a recent appearance on the Adesope Live show, Eldee disclosed that he played a pivotal role in convincing Wizkid to focus on Afrobeats.
According to the music icon, when Wizkid was first signed to EME record label, he was initially inclined towards Reggae and Dancehall music.
However, Eldee the Don advised him to explore a more Nigerian sound, blending local flavors with international appeal.
The music icon recalled, “Wizkid was leaning towards Reggae and Dancehall when Banky W signed him, but I told him he needed to find a middle ground and create something distinctly Nigerian with a lot of flavor.”
This sage advice ultimately led Wizkid to produce Afropop hits like ‘Don’t Dull,’ which catapulted him to fame.
Eldee’s revelation highlights the significant impact he had on Wizkid’s early career, guiding him towards a sound that would eventually propel him to global stardom.
